Our Story
Every great wine club starts with a single bottle and a moment of clarity.
For Co-founders John King and Len Gostick, that moment arrived in Chile over 13 years ago, enjoying wine in a vineyard's cavern. It sparked a realization: they needed to create a private space that captured the tranquil, profound essence of a cavern and brought people together over wine and stories to create “us”.
After spending time together and planning in John's Toronto Member’s club, the vision grew from concept into reality. CavernUs isn't stuffy or pretentious—it's a community where friendships flourish, stories are shared, and every member belongs.
We believe wine appreciation is a lifelong journey, and our doors are open to everyone: from those just discovering their palate to seasoned collectors and those who simply love connecting over a glass. We're here to build camaraderie through curated tastings, member events, and exceptional experiences—because connection comes first, always. This focus drives our commitment to the story of wine.

Our Downtown Calgary Location
CavernUs is nestled beneath historic Stephen’s Avenue, in the cellar confines of the Old Alberta Hotel Building right near the Calgary Tower. It's a poetically fitting location, naturally suited to our concept.
This spot has always held a special place in Calgary's history, even serving as an underground wine cellar long ago. It fits perfectly with our desire to replicate the cool, calm environment of a vineyard cavern.
Beneath the heart of Downtown Calgary, CavernUs is more than a private wine club or lounge—it's a retreat for those who value exceptional wine, genuine connection, and an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the city.
